DANCE DOCTOR, DANCE!

THE PSYCHOLOGY OF DANCE SHOW

Bedlam Theatre Venue 49

18.50           50 minutes

£9/£7

Dr Peter Lovatt, aka Dr Dance, is an academic with a difference. A professional dancer, he was the original Billy Elliot turned Professor Branestawm running the Dance Psychology Laboratory at the University of Hertfordshire. Dr Dance is an original, from dyslexic ballet dancer to doctor at Cambridge University, from Grange Hill to Graham Norton, from cruise ship entertainer to Caribbean castaway; his journey has so far been fun and entertaining, just like his show!

His show brings to life his scientific dance lab. Exp1: Dance, Moving and Thinking, Exp 2: Dance & Emotions, Exp 3: Dance & Hormones and Exp 4: Dance ‘Why it feels great to gyrate!’  The Show includes live and screened dance performances, incorporating his worldwide project “23 Feelings in Dance” and the opportunity for the audience to join in.

His research findings and unique presentation style has got the country talking about dancing, hormones and why we love (or hate) to dance! He has appeared on the Graham Norton Show, The One Show, GMTV, Good Morning America, Radio 4, not to mention various overseas TV and radio appearances; Dr Dance has also been the subject of countless magazine and newspaper articles.  He has made dad dancing a specialised dance sensation and is now playing host and judge to many talent competitions that are sweeping the nation.  Dr Lovatt is a showman who has delighted crowds at The Royal Institution, The Wellcome Trust and Britain’s major science centres.

Dr Dance will be PR stunting throughout the Fringe including the world’s largest hand jive and is available for interviews which can include diagnosing dance styles, what dance moves suit what ages, his research findings/activities & how to dance without anxiety.
